Product Launch Guidelines

By Bret Ridgway

Getting ready to do a new product launch? As with anything, preparation is critical. And that includes involving your duplication and fulfillment partner in the loop early in the process.

As you plan your product launch you’ll be lining up your affiliate partners, developing your website, recording audios and/or videos, designing your product graphics and a whole lot more. Bottom line is you’ll be juggling a lot of balls and it can be easy to overlook important details if you don’t have a detailed game plan on all aspects of your launch.

Fulfillment is a critical aspect of your launch. I know first hands of two fairly recent “Million Dollar Day” product launches that were disasters on the fulfillment end (we were not involved in either launch).

What your duplication and fulfillment partner will be looking for from you regarding your product launch? Here are some of the critical things:

Make sure your CD and DVD masters are AOK. The old adage – ‘garbage in, garbage out’ – applies here. Make sure your product is professionally recorded. There are a lot of little things that can bite you in the butt when recording audio and video.

Have all your disc masters and the artwork for all your packaging done at least 30 days prior to your product launch date. Last minute jobs raise stress levels for everyone involved, increase the risk of errors, and typically raise your costs.

Test your ordering process completely ahead of time. Make sure the mechanism to transfer order information to your fulfillment house is fully functional prior to your launch.

Have a plan in place to deal with your customers in case your product launch is more successful than you anticipated. If you ask your duplication partner to produce 100 sets of a product for a launch and then you sell 300, you’ve created a problem you’ll have to deal with to keep your customers happy. Keep in mind typical minimum turnaround on a new job order is 10-12 days. So have some digital bonuses or a portion of the main product your customers can download right away to keep them as happy as possible.

Product launches can be extremely rewarding and lucrative… and frustrating. Minimize the chances of frustration by making sure your fulfillment considerations are included in your planning stages.

Picking New Products for Your Online Business

By Halstatt Pires Platinum Quality Author

If you run an online business selling products, you eventually are going to want to expand your product line. Instead of winging it or thinking up new ideas, you should use online tools to verify there is a need.

Assume I have an online store selling a niche product line. Let’s say I am selling tools for building things around your home for the purpose of this article. My site is doing pretty well. I may be using pay-per-click or seo to generate business and sales, but the specific method doesn’t really matter.

While my site is doing well, I have one problem. My sales are somewhat limited because there are only so many tools that people can buy. I need to expand the site with other product lines. How do I go about doing this? Many sites get it completely wrong.

At this point, most businesses go in a couple directions to develop new business lines. First, they just sit around and brainstorm ideas and come up with product lines they think would be good. This is known as the fantasy approach. The second method is to take note of the fact a couple customers have asked if the site will carry a certain product or product line. This is known as the extrapolation theory, to wit, if one or two people asked for it, there must be a huge demand. Both of these approaches tend to fall on their face unless a key step is taken.

When attempting to identify a new product line for your site, you must do keyword research. The web makes life easy for businesses because the needs of your customers are so readily apparent. All you have to do is use your favorite research tool to see if there is demand for a product. If there is, then go ahead and add the line. If not, move on to a new idea. Let’s look at an example.

Going back to my tool site, I need a new product line. I read client emails and brainstorm ideas. How about adding bathroom fixtures to the site? Remodeling bathrooms is a popular home improvement project so surely people would be interested in buying fixtures. Is this correct? There is only one way to find out – research it!

I am going to use Wordtracker for the purposes of this article. I run “fixtures” through it and find there are about 2,000 total searches a day for the total bathroom fixture keyword list. In short, there appears to be enough interest to add this as a product line to my site. Now I can do so confident that people will buy. To show how it works the opposite way, let’s look at another example.

Instead of bathroom fixtures, let’s assume I want to add a line of wooden toilet seats for some strange reason. Hey, it is an example! Before I go through the time and cost of adding the pages to the site and buying inventory, I do my research. Using Wordtracker again, I find there are only 10 searches a day for wooden toilet seats. Do I want to add this product line? Problably not. There isn’t much demand online. I would be far better off going with the bathroom fixtures.

Although these examples have pretty obvious findings, you should use the same technique with your online business. Taking this approach lets you pick the products people are interested in while avoiding those lines that are not going to help your bottom line.

Product Launches – How to Be Successful

By Sean Mize Platinum Quality Author

Product launches can be so much fun and very successful when they are done correctly, and of course when people are expecting a new release or a new ebook from you.

One of the keys to a successful product launch is making sure that people, either your affiliates or your subscribers, are aware well in advance that you have something new coming along.

That way they can prepare, if they are affiliates, and so that anticipation is developed if they are your subscribers.

With the idea of a product launch, you are going to be thinking along the lines of the entire process of birthing an ebook, not just the writing of it. You are going to need to write the ebook, of course, but you will also need a web site or web page, and be able to accept mastercard and visa, and of course create an affiliate program and find joint venture (JV) partners to promote it for you.

There is of course so much more to a product launch than just writing the book itself – and you have to be aware of it all to really do the best job and time it all right.

So to do a product launch successfully, you need to have a broad overview of everything you need to do to get the ebook not only written, but available for mass distribution.

Although everything you will do can be done one step at a time, there are several things that cannot be done at the last minute.

You must prepare your web pages, your credit card processing, and your affiliate program well in advance. You should also begin creating and writing your sales copy well in advance, preferably as you are writing the ebook or creating another medium of information.

Product Launch Secrets – Why Do A Product Launch?

By Sean Mize Platinum Quality Author

Product launches have become quite popular lately. Some days I might get 25 different emails promoting the very same product, on the same day – and then next week it is a different product.

Why? What is a product launch? A product launch is what you do to get your newly created product into as many hands as possible at the very beginning after you have created the product. This allows for massive action and exponential sales.

So what is an effective product launch? I think for various people an effective product launch would mean something different. For some, it is money, for others it is action.

Is an effective product launch one that makes you $1,000 in a week? Or $10,000 in a week? Well, if you have never done one before, $1000 might seem like a lot. But to some of you, $10,000 would not be enough.

That is going to depend on your perspective, and how much money you have been accustomed to making online. And each product launch you do should make you more money than the one before.

And look at it this way: Would you rather make $1000 selling 20 copies of a $50 book to your own list, or make $1000 selling 200 copies of a book through affiliates where your cut is $5 each after commissions and merchant fee? Only you can make that decision, although for me, I would currently rather make more selling less. That may change in time, but I like the stealth approach. Not many people know about me, but the ones that have gotten to know me know that I deliver gold. That has to be a personal decision.

And I think that you have to make that decision at some point.
